UPenn's 7 Tesla MRI Scanner Cutting-edge Tech
Opening new doors into the workings of the human brain.
Our research-dedicated Siemens 7 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging scanner at Stellar Chance Laboratories opens new doors to non-invasively study brain structure and function in normal and abnormal development. With the increased resolution provided by this new technology, we are better able to understand the processes of brain development and inform treatment and prevention of mental disorders.
At this time, our 7T MRI scanner is one of the most active in the United States and the Brain Behavior Laboratory and Lifespan Brain Institute are on the way to collecting one of largest datasets in healthy and abnormal development at 7T, allowing us to be leaders in brain research and move the field toward effective treatment and prevention.
